Colonel Jones served as a pilot flying for the "Air Commandos" in the AC-47 Gunship in Vietnam. He also served as an Air Force Advisor/Instructor pilot to the Vietnamese Air Force. While in Vietnam, then Captain Jones earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his heroic action flying the AC-47 Gunship engaging enemy forces, inflicting heavy casualties on them. In his distinguished 26 year career, he earned many awards for his service to his country.
