Thomas, an aviation pioneer and Founding Member of the Order of Daedalians, was a pilot in the Armed Forces of the United States prior to the Armistice, 1918. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force Reserve as: Commanding Officer, First Pursuit Group, Third Aviation Instruction Center, Issoudun, France; Commanding Officer, Selfridge Field, Michigan; and Chief of the Air Unit, Military Intelligence Service, War Department.
