Served in the Korean War and Vietnam War, and retired with the rank of Colonel from the Marines in 1979.

After graduation from Artillery School 1st Lt. Madory received
orders to Korea where he served in the DMZ to ensure the
Armistice signed on 27 June was being upheld. After release from
active duty, he continued to honorably serve his country as a
Reserve Officer eventually retiring as a Colonel.
