A Distinguished Graduate of The Citadel class of 1953, Ned served as initial Air Training Officer cadre at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Based in Tan Son Nhat Vietnam, he flew 218 combat missions and 1020 sorties in C-130B Hercules. Ned flew over 5,200 hours in B-25, B-29, PA-18, C-119, C-47, C-123, C-131, and C- 130s and spent a year at Sparrevohn AB, Alaska, at a remote radar site. He served 33 years between active duty, Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve.
