John was a West Point graduate, Class of 1949. He obtained 6 Battle Campaigns in Korea and 4 in Vietnam. John organized the final Helicopter Evacuations of Saigon leading to freedom for over 1000 Americans and 6000 South Vietnamese on April 29-30, 1975.
