Colonel Eugene Richard Belcher began his military career in December of 1952, during the conflict in Korea. He entered as a Private El in the United States Army and served for 27 years during the conflicts in Korea, Lebanon, and Vietnam. During this time, he commanded various plants and facilities, carrying out important assignments at each. In July of 1979, Colonel Belcher was held a special retirement ceremony at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Following his military career, Colonel Belcher received his MBA from New Mexico Highlands University (he had previously received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha during a stay in the States). He used this education and training to land a job with BDM, a large military contracting company. His reputation as a tireless and meticulous supervisor led him to be employed as an officer for an Environmental Engineering Firm, Advanced Sciences Incorporated International. Because of his extensive managerial and organizational skills, he eventually was recruited to manage the most challenging hotels for an international hotel management firm. Colonel Belcher has three very successful children and five thriving grandchildren, one who is making her mark in high school and four who are excelling in prestigious colleges: Emory University, Duke University, and two who attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. Colonel Belcher humbly resides in his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico with Merlinda, his beautiful wife of 56 years.
