Ed's impressive Army career began in 1953, concluding in 1990. He served with energy, enthusiasm, humor and often fearlessness. Arriving in Vietnam in 1966 with the ist Cav (Airmobile) he volunteered to join the 229th Assault Helicopter Battalion as a platoon leader. He was awarded the first of two DC's for volunteering to fly a dangerous medevac mission, during extreme weather and hostile fire, saving the life of a fellow soldier. He gave freely of his off- duty time and energy supporting the military community. Ed's commands include the 156th Aviation Company, Fort Bliss, TX; NATO Reserve Storage Activity, Luxembourg; Tropic Test Center, Panama, and Fort A.P. Hill, VA quiet hero, he served with honor and distinction throughout his military career. Proudly serving in Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Luxembourg, Panama, and posts throughout the United States. He Graduated Cum Laude from the University of Oregon where he played for U.O.'s baseball team, The Ducks. After retiring in 1990, traveling the world with his wife, playing ball with the boys, hanging out with his children, and being a Cat Daddy were his greatest joys. His sage guidance, generosity, and devotion were unending. His shoulder to lean on, playful spirit, and loving heart were precious gifts, for which we are Eternally Grateful.
