Don Sherman was temporarily transferred to General McArthur's staff to plan a landing on Japan near the end of WWII. In the Korean War, he was on the staff of the First Marine Division at Chosin Reservoir. In the Vietnamese War, he was Chief of Staff of the 3rd Marine Division and CO of the 4th Marine Regiment, He retired after 29 years of service to his country.
