Commanding Officer of USS Bennington CVS-20
Prior to transferring to the U.S. Navy, Wiley was offered the opportunity to fly for the Royal Air Force. He sank two German submarines. Subsequently was decorated with the RAF Distinguished Flying Cross by King George VI.
