Flew over 100 combat sorties in three wars. One of first 200 Naval Jet Aviators. Awarded 15 decorations including Bronze Star. Flew air reconnaissance at Bikini A-Bomb Test in 1946. Test Pilot at Naval Test Center. Navy Top Gun in 1961. On staffs of CINCHELM, Chief of Naval Ops and COMSEVENTH Fleet. As Commander Air Wing 21 led first strikes into No. Vietnam in February 1965. XO USS Ranger (CVA-61). CO USS Mauna Kea AE-22 in 1968/69. An inspirational leader who knew all who served under him by name. Retired after 29 years of service as CO of Alameda Naval Air Station.
