Captain Sue Young served 22 years in the U.S. Navy as a specialist in the role of women in the military. Sue's leadership and interpersonal skills were exhibited early in her career when her first assignment was to the Office of the Secretary of the Navy. As a Company Officer and Instructor at the Womens Officer School, she trained women officers to excel. Subsequently, she was the only woman on the Chief of Naval Operations select team that developed the Navy's Human Resource Management program that created college courses and degrees for personnel on ships. Sue was commended for her "dedication and commitment" by the Secretary of the Navy and subsequently became Commanding Officer of the Naval Education Training Support Activity Pacific. Her professionalism, commitment and dedication to the Navy were truly recognized when the President of the United States appointed her to the Defense Advisory Committee on Women in the Service.
