MEDALS-RIBBONS: Air Force Good Conduct, Air and Space Longevity Service Ribbon
Sherman started his Air Force career as an Aviation Cadet. After earning a commission and his pilot wings, he
flew KC•97s out of Lackland and Hunter Air Force Bases. Then transferred to Castle and Roswell Air Force base to
fly KC-135. While stationed at Westover Air Force Base, he was attached to the 8th Air Force Headquarters as
Aircraft Commander, flying operations during the Cuban Missile conflict. He continued to serve in the Air National
Guard flying F-84Fs with the 131.q Tac Fighter Squadron.
