Captain Kline bean his career in the Navy by serving aboard USS PRESTON (DD-795) in Surface Warfare (SWO). He also served on USS CORAL SEA (CV-43) in the South China Sea CZ, USS HOEL (DDG-13), USS GOLDBOROUGH (DDG-20) in Oahu, HI, assigned command of USS LYNDE MCCORMICK (DDG-8) and USS CAPE COD (AD-43). He retired after 32 years plus of service, 17 of which were at sea.
