Captain Aparicio began his Navy career in the Enlisted ranks; completing Recruit training, Hospital Corps and Field Medical Service Schools. He Served with the Marines in Vietnam. He was Commissioned as a Nurse Corps officer in 1973 and served at numerous hospitals and was a member of the surgical team that treated casualties after the bombing of the Marine Corps Barracks in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1983.
