Flying 79 combat missions and 19 types of Navy aircraft totaling 3158 flight hours, Lloyd subsequently served at the Defense Intelligence Agency as a branch Chief of Operations and was a skilled manager of professional technical and scientific intelligence analysts. He commanded the Navy detachment at Lowry AFB and served as Deputy Director of Intelligence for US EUCOM and NATO.
