After flying out of Cam Ranh Bay assigned to the 776 TAS, Jimmy's service and operations covered the entire Vietnam countryside with participation in the Cambodian incursion. Assigned to the 47th Tactical Air Squadron at Forbes AFB in Kansas his duties included readiness, training and squadron instructor. Operations also included the support of USAF European bases and flying the Berlin corridor.
C-130 Pilot Vietnam Sept 1969-Dec.1970; resupplied overrun airport An Loc/Song Be. Confronted enemy at the aircraft. We survived due to reinforcements arriving. US Air Medal First Oak Leaf Cluster. After service in the Air Force I became an Airline Pilot and was hired by Transamerica Airlines where I flew the DC-8 and B747 in Worldwide Operations. Transamerica closed down and I was hired by Cargolux Airlines in Luxembourg where I flew the B-747 to every part of the world except the Antarctic. One of the great things about the flying was I experienced many different cultures. I met my beautiful wife, Selifa, on a trip in 1996. We married and have been together ever since that time. My Air Force service allowed me to have an interesting and exciting life, one that I would never had imagined.
