Captain Baumann was a pilot and Instructor. He served on the USS LEXINGTON (CVA-16). He was a Squadron Commander and Navigator aboard USS AMERICA (CV-66) and was Assistant Director of the Flight Test Division. He served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. In addition to the Bronze Star, he was awarded the Air Medal w/3 Stars, a Unit Citation, and a Meritorious Unit Citation.
