Upon completion of and the Basic School, Captain Oliphant propelled to Vietnam and joined the 2nd Battalion/5th
Marines operating in An Hoa. When wounded, he was soon able to rejoin the fight. After Vietnam, he was selected to
swim for the United States in the All Military Olympics (CISM) in Seville, Spain.
