Anthony "Tony" Spear served as an Aircraft Radio repairman with the 2259th Air Reserve Flying Center as pat of the Continental Air Command (ConAC) from 1954 until 1958.

After his service in the U.S. Air Force, "Tony" Spear, a ledgendary project manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, led a team on NASA's Mars Pathfinder mission in 1997 which landed the first spacecraft on Mars.
