AE - AUXILIARY EXPLOSIVE
These ships carried all types of munitions to include: small arms, cannon shells, bombs, and rockets. Ships were generally named after volcanoes or explosives.
AOE - AUXILIARY OILER EXPLOSIVE
In addition to carrying munitions, these ships were designed to carry specialized fuels, lubricants, and supplies. Ships were generally named after cities.
