Carl graduated from Dunbar High School of Lufkin, Texas in May 1961. There, he lettered in football with the Dunbar Tigers, in the position of center. Following graduation, Carl received a scholarship to attend Jarvis Christian College, but he turned it down as he wanted to help his support his family and his country, and to see the world.

In June of 1961, Carl joined the United States Navy and received basic training at San Diego’s Naval training center. He had many tours of duty and ports of call. He was stationed in the far East for two years. He is a Veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was exposed to Agent Orange.

Carl was assigned to various cruisers during his tour of duty. His favorite was the USS Providence. To this day, many of the crewmen and their families continue to communicate and have planned activities together all across the country.

Aboard ship, Carl’s rank was SH-3 Ship’s Serviceman. He served 4 years of active duty. Following his military service, Carl continued his education and earned several degrees before retiring from Solar Turbines of San Diego, after 37 years of employment.

Carl and Dorothy, his lovely wife of over 55 years, have 4 wonderful children:

3. Tonya Jenkins 4. Sterling Coleman

They also have 10 grand-children and 3 great-grandchildren.

Carl Wesley Coleman has the utmost love and respect from all of his family and friends.

Carl, you proudly served the Military and your Country.
