Fisherman to Sailor
When WWII started his Sicilian American father's fishing boat was requisitioned by the US Government in Monterey California.
John provided expertise in operating and maintaining the boat
The boat was used by the Navy to patrol the Pacific Coast for enemy submarines after there were ten submarine attacks along the Coast of California after Pearl Harbor. The boat was also used to tow targets for Naval Aircraft bombing practice.
